PRESERVING FOOD
If you get a 'glut' of produce, a great way to think about sustainability, food security and life skills is to embrace the art of preserving! It's not just about jams but many different ways to make food last longer.

Pickles, jams, ferments, butters, sauces, relish, brine the list is endless. Across Europe and beyond there are some great methods and recipes to preserve what is in season. Not only reducing food waste but also making sure we have food across the year. It's a great way to ask community volunteers to come in and share their favorites. Plus something you can sell at your open days or fetes. You can get the pupils to also design the labels!
